Puritan Beliefs

They believed that Adam and Eve's sin had damned most people for all eternity. They also believed that Jesus came to Earth to save a few people.
For them it was difficult to know who was saved or damned, so they behave in an excellent way.
Colonial religious views included strong notions of apocalyptic belief that charted the end of time, identified Antichrists, and fostered revivalism.

1) Puritan religious tradition has always included a strong belief in the Second Coming of Christ. Although different denominations treat the Second Coming from the perspectives of their own theological belief systems, core elements of apocalyptic understanding are the same.

2) The belief that the existing world would end, ushering in a Utopia, as well as the belief in an Antichrist was already prevalent among
Colonial Christians.

3) Notably those faith traditions tied to the teachings of
John Calvin, the Puritans firmly believed that New England would be the capital of the “New Earth” of biblical prophecy.

4) They also believe that America had been chosen by God to redeem a lost world.

5 )Puritans also believe in religious exclusiveness. One and only one religion was primary principle of their society.
